Density surface and excursion sets modeling as an approach to estimating population densities

چکیده

Effective species management and conservation require knowledge of distribution status. We used point-transect distance sampling surveys the endangered palila (Loxioides bailleui), a honeycreeper currently found only on Island Hawai'i, USA, to generate robust estimates total abundance simultaneously model distribution, abundance, spatial correlation as density surface (DSM). Point-transect is widely applied method estimate bird densities accounting for imperfect detection probability. For DSM we generalized additive framework soap film smoothers control effects boundary features. This modeling approach allowed us account propagate probability uncertainty. compared uncertainty in using standard from DSM. The DSM, both distance-sampling-derived variance variance, did not improve population estimator precision; however, it provided insight into species' density, also excursion sets analysis objectively identify areas where occurs high densities. 2017 global <2,000 individuals was limited an area 1,500 ha. Our findings can help regulatory agencies by mapping improving survey protocols, providing information important conservation.

Estimating Densities, Quantiles, Quantile Densities and Density Quantiles

Abs t rac t . To estimate the quantile density function (the derivative of the quantile function) by kernel means, there are two alternative approaches. One is the derivative of the kernel quantile estimator, the other is essentially the reciprocal of the kernel density estimator. We give ways in which the former method has certain advantages over the latter. Various closely related smoothing i...

Modeling human population patterns on tree density

In order to evaluate the possible correlation between the tree density and the human population density, the forested area in Nav Asalem district located in Guilan Province was selected. The descriptors of tree number and basal area per hectare as well as the stand density index were used to determine the tree density, which was conducted from a 2014 forest inventory including 62 cluster (558 p...

An integrated modeling approach to estimating Gunnison sage-grouse population dynamics: combining index and demographic data

Evaluation of population dynamics for rare and declining species is often limited to data that are sparse and/or of poor quality. Frequently, the best data available for rare bird species are based on large-scale, population count data. These data are commonly based on sampling methods that lack consistent sampling effort, do not account for detectability, and are complicated by observer bias. ...

the aesthetic dimension of howard barkers art: a frankfurtian approach to scenes from an execution and no end of blame

Models for estimating phytoplankton population densities under different environmental conditions with emphasis on climatic factors

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of environmental conditions with emphasis on the main meteorological factors (air temperature variables, sunshine hour, and humidity), on phytoplankton communities. As important primary producers in aquatic ecosystems, phytoplankton communities could be affected by several factors. Environmental factors play the major role in occurrence and diver...
